HW: The very first course I took as a nutritional counselor was the alkaline diet. The course brought a huge amount of knowledge and difference to our lives. Eating foods, we considered healthy, we soon came to realize that some foods have very detrimental impact on your health. Those unhealthy foods are acid foods or foods that breakdown down into an acidic ash when ingested. While we need some acid in our bodies we need to achieve a healthy balance between acid and alkaline. The body is normally happy in the Ph range around 7. One thing to mention is potassium and calcium are alkaline substances in our bodies that help alkalize acids in our body. We get potassium and calcium from the food we eat. When a acidic food is ingested these alkaline substance rush to neutralize to protect our bodies- the problem is though if the body does not have enough of these neutralizing agents , because it has not been supplied them with alkaline rich foods, the body will rob it on self. The body will self preserve. The brain, heart, arteries and other organs take precedent over what the body would call lesser needs. In order to maintain life the brain needs to function the heart needs to beat. The body will take calcium from bones to neutralize acid when its reserves are exhausted. The body enjoys not having aching bones, breaks and arthritic joints but it can not live without a beating heart and substances like potassium are critical in order to keep the heart beating. An out of balance Ph leads to acidosis (too much acid in the body or too little base alkaline)
Acidosis is excessive blood acidity caused by an overabundance of acid in the blood or a loss of base (bicarbonate) from the blood (metabolic acidosis). Some bicarbonate compounds include potassium carbonate and calcium carbonate. Another cause of acidosis is the buildup of carbon dioxide in the blood that results from poor lung function or slow breathing (respiratory acidosis).
Metabolic acidosis can occur as a result of abnormal metabolism. Some causes include the accumulation of ketones and lactic acid, diabetic ketoacidosis (buildup of ketones). The loss of bases such as bicarbonate. The most common causes of metabolic acidosis are ketoacidosis, lactic acidosis, renal failure, and toxic ingestions.
Ketoacidosis is a common complication of type 1 diabetes mellitus, and can also be caused by diabetes, chronic alcoholism, malnutrition, and fasting.
Lactic acidosis (physiologic processes and exogenous toxins) can be caused by the buildup of lactic acid such as happens in shock, primary hypoxia due to lung disorders, seizures, carbon monoxide, cyanide, iron.
Toxins metabolized to acids can be caused by alcohol, methanol, ethylene glycol, paraldehyde, and salicylates.

"ACIDOSIS" IS THE CAUSE OF MOST CANCERS: SO REMOVE THE CAUSE! If you "Remove the Cause, There Are No Symptoms"® to treat.
There are two factors that are always present with cancer cells: (1) an acidic pH and (2)a lack of oxygen. Both factors are produced by acidosis.
What Causes Acidosis? Acidosis is usually the result of eating acid forming diets, but can also result from medications, medical conditions such as severe forms of diabetes and viruses.
SO REMOVE THE CAUSE!
Here is a link to great chart you can print out for your fridge. It is a very extensive list of alkaline and acid foods. http://greenopedia.com/alkaline-acid-food-chart/
